St. Frances Xavier Cabrini…Colorado’s Saint… always had people around her—followers, friends, and supporters who believed in what she was doing. She didn’t have big sponsors or corporate backing but her energy, her vision, and her unstoppable missionary spirit drew others in. She relied on those lay collaborators to help bring her mission to life, and as her work expanded, those partnerships became even more vital. That’s still true today. So for this year’s story for the annual Mother Cabrini Shrine Gala, we set out on telling the stories of her modern-day collaborators.

Mother Cabrini Shrine is located in Golden, Colorado. Mother Cabrini bought this rocky hillside to be a summer camp for the girls at the orphanage she ran in North Denver. When she moved to Denver in the early 1900s, she was drawn to helping the Italian immigrants in the city as well as those who worked in Colorado mines and the children of those people who died while working in the mines.

Mother Cabrini reached out to people from all backgrounds, and the Shrine is a place where all feel welcome. On Cabrini Day in 2025, and on the day before which was a Sunday, it was impressive to see all the people, all the different kinds of people.. everyone looked peaceful and happy.

“The people who come to the Shrine are here because they really want to be here,” said Fr. Bob Fisher. “And they ask about the ‘Cabrini water’ from the spring… and the people that they have given that to have recovered from a variety of ailments. But it’s not just the water. You have an opportunity to pray as you walk up 373 steps, and say all the Mysteries of the Rosary, visit all the Stations of the Cross, and give thanks to the Sacred Heart of Jesus when you get to the top. And there is a calmness that just kind of seems to enwrap people when they do that.. knowing that somehow or another because of their gift of faith, whatever that worry is, is going to get taken care of.”

Fr. Bob is definitely a modern-day collaborator of Mother Cabrini’s. He is a retired priest who says Mass at the Shrine, listens to confessions and walks around the Shrine, answering questions to any visitor that wants to know about St. Frances Xavier Cabrini. We also captured the stories of Luz Garcia who runs the very popular Spanish-speaking Masses, Mea and Al Duran who assist with Masses and wherever else they can, and Angela and Brian Mulheran who lead the retreats groups and music ministry at the Sunday 11am Mass, respectfully.

Brian had the idea of us creating another video, a music video for a song performed by all of the Cabrini musicians. This is a first… the first music video by Kyle Dyer Storytelling:
